週末、ボストンから少し足を伸ばしてソローやエマーソンが暮らしたコンコードへ。1845年、ソローはウォールデンの森に自ら小屋を建て、ここで2年強の時を過ごした。『自然論』で知られるエマーソンらから斧を借り、木々を伐採し、自らの手で時間をかけて小屋を建てた。
