ハーバード大学デザイン大学院（GSD）は1936年の設立以来、理論と実践の有機的結合を目指すアーバニズム教育を行ってきた。なかでも実践が占める比重は大きく、「デザイン」というレンズを通して実社会の問題を発見し、解決策を提示していく原体験を通じ、次世代のアーバ二ストを育てるというのがGSDのDNAとなっている。
